سری جدید اسناد ویکی لیکس شامل چند سند مهم در باره ایران است که عموما از سفارت آمریکا در دوبی به وزارت خارجه ارسال گردیده اند. یکی از آنها مربوط به ابراهیم یزدی وزیر خارجه رژیم ایران در آغاز انقلاب و دبیر کل نهضت آزادی است که فوریه 2008 برای دریافت ویزا به دوبی رفته بود و در آنجا گفتگوئی با مسئولین دفتر ویژه وزارت خارجه مستقر در سفارت داشته است. مهمترین نکته از اظهارات یزدی در اینجاست که وی بطور قاطع، امکان اصلاحات تدریجی در این رژیم را منتفی دانسته و میگوید که این نظام بدلیل ضعف های درونی اش از هم خواهد پاشید. یزدی در این دیدار از برنامه های صدای آمریکا انتفاد کرده و گفته است که این رسانه در کنترل سلطنت طلبانی است که درک درستی از اوضاع ایران ندارند و ضد اسلام هستند.

یزدی با تحریم های اقتصادی و فشار علیه رژیم مخالفت کرده و خواهان گسترش مراودات اقتصادی ایالات متحده با رژیم ایران شده است.

Summary: Former foreign minister and leader of Freedom Party of Iran Dr. Ebrahim Yazdi (please protect) discussed his views of US policies on Iran with IRPoff Feb 20 when he came to Dubai to collect his US visa. Yazdi expressed his view that US policy on Iran is flawed and unclear, arguing, that economic sanctions against Iran harm the people, but will do nothing to change the Iranian government's behavior.

Rather than imposing economic sanctions on Iran, the US should encourage trade and economic development in Iran, Yazdi said. Although he thought the Iranian government should accept the P5+1 offer and cease uranium enrichment, he believed that some parts of that plan were flawed as well.

Yazdi also criticized VOA programming, saying that in his view the programming is not only anti-Iran, but also anti-Islam. On the future of Iranian politics, Yazdi dismissed the likelihood of gradual reform in Iran; he believed the current system would eventually implode due to inherent systemic flaws.
